Sharon Paul
Chorus Director
Sharon Paul has served as director of the Eugene Symphony Chorus since 2000. Paul is an Associate Professor of Music and chair of vocal and choral studies at the University of Oregon. Under her direction, University of Oregon choral ensembles have been invited to perform at state and regional music conferences.
As artistic director of the San Francisco Girls Chorus from 1992 to 2000, the organization released four CDs and performed at the World Conference of International Society for Music Education, the Spoleto Festival in Italy, and the International Youth Chorus Festival in Osaka, Japan. Paul appears frequently as adjudicator, clinician, conference headliner, and honor choir director throughout the United States.
Eugene Symphony Chorus
The Eugene Symphony chorus is a 75-120 voice ensemble under the direction of Sharon Paul. The chorus is managed by Amy Adams and is comprised of local musicians. Their repertoire is varied, including masterworks from Handel’s Messiah to Prokofiev’s Alexander Nevsky. Recent performances include Holst’s The Planets and Brahms’ A German Requiem. In December 2006, the chorus is featured in a rare, all-choral program including Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music, Bruckner’s Psalm 150 and Beethoven’s monumental Symphony No. 9.
