  • Contra Bassoon
  • Third Bassoon/Contrabassoon

Charlene Decker plays bassoon and contrabassoon in the Eugene Symphony; she has played the bassoon for over 20 years. She also plays the saxophone. Growing up in Eugene, she attended college at the University of California Santa Cruz and the University of Oregon. One of her favorite pieces is Tchaikovsky’s Sixth Symphony. In addition to performing with the Eugene Symphony, she also performs with the Left Coast Sax Quartet. If she were to ever learn another instrument, it would be the cello since she loves its sound. A memorable Eugene Symphony experience for Charlene was playing a contrabassoon/bass clarinet concerto with Carol Robe under Miguel Harth-Bedoya.
