Richard Long serves as second bassoonist for the Eugene Symphony; he has played for 45 years. He grew up in Eugene, Oregon. Some of his favorite pieces of music include Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony and Brahms’ First Symphony. He would like to learn to play the French Horn in order to be able to play the horn parts in Strauss' tone poems. His most memorable moment with the Eugene Symphony was playing Mahler Symphony No. 2 at MacAurthur Court. Richard holds degrees from the Oberlin Conservatory and the University of Oregon. Outside of music, he enjoys playing with model trains.
