James Meyer - Trombone

James Meyer plays bass trombone in the Eugene Symphony. He started playing trumpet at age 6, but switched a year later to trombone. His favorite music includes: Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No.1, by Cliburn/Kondrashin/RCA because his dad played the album for him after he went to bed, Brahms/Liszt Lieder, with Thomas Quastoff, and Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. He also plays with the Eugene Opera and the CLC Players. If he learned another instrument it would be the piano. He holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Oregon. He comes from a very musical family; James and his brothers and sisters all played in a family band directed by his mother.
