Jim Pelley - Cello

James Pelley joined the Eugene Symphony Orchestra in 1978 and has served under all of the Eugene Symphony's resident Music Directors. He also performs with the Eugene Opera Orchestra and has played previously with the Phoenix and Tucson Symphonies, the Oregon Mozart Players, the Cascade Festival of Music, the Flagstaff Music Festival, the OSU/Corvallis Symphony and the Oregon Bach Festival. He has served on the Eugene Symphony Association Board of Directors and has chaired the Eugene Symphony's Orchestra Committee. James received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 1986 from the University of Oregon, where he studied with J. Robert Hladky. Other teachers have included Gordon Epperson at the University of Arizona and Takayori Atsumi at Arizona State University. He served as Instructor of Cello at Lane Community College for 25 years, where he was a frequent solo and chamber performer with LCC faculty artists. James plays a cello made in 1890 by Nicolas Audinot of Mirecourt, France.
