Sophie Therrell performs in the first violin section of the Eugene Symphony; she has played the violin for over 30 years. She also plays the guitar. Growing up in New Orleans, Louisiana, Sophie comes from a musical family. Her gradmother, mother, and father all played piano. In addition to the Eugene Symphony, Sophie also performs with the Oregon Mozart Players, Eugene Opera Orchestra, and various other groups. Sophie holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Princeton University and a Master of Music Degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Some of her favorite composers include Mozart, Bach, and Joni Mitchell. Her most memorable moment with the Eugene Symphony was the first concert she performed with Danail Rachev. When not performing, Sophie enjoys running, hiking, and being a mom.
