  • Third Horn

Lydia Van Dreel plays third horn in the Eugene Symphony; the 2010-11 season marks her fifth season with the orchestra. In addition to performing with the Eugene Symphony, Lydia is a member of the IRIS chamber orchestra, Quadre-Voice of Four Horns, Oregon Wind Quintet, Oregon Brass Quintet, Oregon Bach Festival Orchestra, and is a frequent substitute player with Oregon Symphony. She has played horn for over 30 years and holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School. When asked what her most recent memorable Eugene Symphony experiences have been, Lydia responded "the concerts with Danail Rachev have been quality musical experiences," and that “he is helping the orchestra to improve in meaningful ways.” When asked if she would like to learn to play any other instrument in the orchestra, she responded that she would love to play the cello so that she could perform J.S. Bach’s Cello Suites. When not performing, Lydia enjoys yoga.
