Stravinsky: Firebird & Dvořák: New World Symphony
Join Music Director Alex Prior and Executive Director Dave Moss for a special Coffee with the Conductor, offering an inside look at the October 15 Stravinsky: Firebird & Dvořák: New World Symphony program and what brings it to life on stage. From the dazzling showpiece of Stravinsky’s Firebird to the radiant waves of sound and color of Anna Clyne’s Color Field and sweeping melodies of Dvořák’s New World Symphony, Alex will share the stories, history, and artistic choices behind the music—revealing not just what you’ll hear, but why it matters.
This is a chance to go deeper than our Guild Legacy Pre-Concert Talks, with more time for exploration, discussion, and audience questions in a relaxed setting.
Doors open at 1:00 PM. Come early, grab a coffee and a bagel, and settle in!
Note: A traditional 30-minute pre-concert talk will also be offered at 6:30 PM before the 7:30 PM concert on Oct. 15.

Stravinsky: Firebird & Dvořák: New World Symphony - October 15, 7:30pm
Led by Music Director Alex Prior, the Eugene Symphony opens the season with Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite, a dazzling showpiece of glittering orchestration and blazing finale.
Joining it is Anna Clyne’s Color Field, inspired by the luminous canvases of Mark Rothko and unfolding in radiant waves of sound and color. The program culminates in Antonín Dvořák’s New World Symphony, whose sweeping melodies and expansive spirit have made it a cornerstone of the repertoire for generations.
