EUGENE, Ore. - The Eugene Symphony is offering free tickets to its annual "Symphony in the Park" event coming up at the end of next month.
On July 1, 5,500 tickets will be available starting at 10 a.m. through the Eugene Symphony's website. The event takes place on July 27 at the Cuthbert Amphitheater. Each year, Symphony in the Park attracts thousands of attendees.
This year's concert holds special significance as it marks the debut performance of the symphony's new music director, Alex Prior.
"Both of these concerts I think really reflect you know what's core to our mission of enriching lives to the power of music," said Dave Moss, Eugene Symphony's executive director. "We understand that being at the Hult Center, being in those four walls can be intimidating for some."
The Eugene Symphony will also perform at Bohemia Park in Cottage Grove on July 28 at 7:30 p.m.
"To have these free performances and to provide that type of interaction with the community and accessibility with the community is important to us," said Moss.
Concertgoers are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for donation to Food for Lane County. While admission is free, tickets are required and expected to go quickly.
More information can be found on the Eugene Symphony's website.
